In Al-Eizariya, in the occupied West Bank, Manar and her husband Milad run House of Hope – a free school where Palestinian children learn, sing and breathe in an atmosphere of art and humanity. But as tensions rise outside, it becomes increasingly difficult for Manar to maintain her pacifist ideals and continue to give her students a sense of security and dignity.

Director Marjolein Busstra, who worked closely with a Palestinian crew, followed the couple for three years, at school, at home, and amid increasing tensions in their environment. Even after 7 October 2023, when the situation becomes increasingly grim, Manar and Milad continue to hold on to their ideals. With an intimate gaze, photographs, and personal phone footage, House of Hope tells a powerful and moving story of courage, resilience, and the search for humanity under occupation. A film that shows how hope can continue to grow, even in the most difficult circumstances.
