Jess O'Connell

For over twenty years, Jess O’Connell has worked to advance progressive people and policies all across the United States. Jess is the co-founder and CEO of NEWCO Strategies, working on economic fairness, civil and human rights, and democracy and voting rights. O’Connell is also the co-founder of the Democracy Security Project (DSP), a one-stop shop for safety and security resources for anyone facing new or urgent threats to themselves or their work. In just over a year, DSP has reached over 500 organizations, and trained over 3,000 people across 47 states. Jess is the former CEO of the Democratic Party (DNC), taking over the post just weeks after Donald Trump's first inauguration as President. And she served as the Executive Director of EMILY’s List, the largest political organization for women in the world. Jess has appeared on BBC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, & more.
