As part of Orange the World, Theater Dakota is screening Sorry, Baby.
Sorry, Baby follows five years in the life of Agnes, a literature teacher whose world quietly unravels after she is sexually assaulted by her thesis supervisor. Rather than focusing solely on the trauma itself, the film captures the fragmented ways she tries to cope with it: an awkward intimacy with a neighbor, a stray cat that won’t leave, even jury duty. Small encounters—a kind sandwich shop owner who calms her during a panic attack, or a doctor’s visit that goes strangely wrong—show how survival is stitched together from fragile, everyday moments.
The film addresses timely, provocative themes: bad male behavior, sexual violence, ostrich-like policies at schools, queer relationships, and gender identity. Yet it never feels overtly political; the director’s gentle, poetic perspective prevails. At its core, this is a universal story about pain and disappointment, about how a sensitive soul can endure in a harsh world.
Post-screening discussion: After the film, there will be a discussion about the impact of sexual misconduct. This conversation is organized in collaboration with professionals from the GGD (Public Health Service) and will include time for the audience to ask questions.
Orange the World is UN Women’s global campaign to end violence against women and girls. The campaign takes place annually from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, International Human Rights Day.
Ticket includes a snack and drink after the film.
