  • Location: Filmhuis Den Haag

Set in Thatcher-era London, My Beautiful Laundrette follows Omar, a young British-Pakistani man navigating the intersecting pressures of family loyalty, racial politics, and economic ambition. When he partners with Johnny, a former schoolmate and white working-class punk, to run a run-down laundrette, their business venture becomes a site of personal and political confrontation. As their romantic relationship unfolds, the film explores how love survives within systems shaped by racism, capitalism, and social division.
