West Bank, 1988. When a Palestinian teenager becomes involved in a protest against Israeli soldiers, his mother recounts the family story that led them to this fateful moment. She tells of the seven decades in the life of their uprooted family, who have been driven from their homes since 1948, and their tireless struggle to live a dignified life together.
'Moving drama about an uprooted Palestinian family' - VPRO Cinema (★★★★)
'Makes generational trauma palpable' - Trouw (★★★★)
'Historical epic' - de Volkskrant (★★★★)
Highlighted by Sophie Jansen, Head of Programming at Filmhuis Den Haag:
''Chronicling the events in the life of a Palestinian family across the decades, 'All That’s Left of You' is a history lesson I wish I was taught more of in school. That being said, a good history lesson doesn’t necessarily make for a good film but 'All That’s Left You' delivers doubly! It’s heart-wrenching and devastatingly human without needing to make huge statements. It’s a film which I hope many will take to heart and which will stay with me for a long time.''
